Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Warblington

My name is Jason, I'm a local councillor and volunteer when I'm not working as a project manager/SysAdmin/Developer. Keeping busy is important to me. I run a Sunday litter picking group, I volunteer at parkrun on Saturday, and I work in the community with various groups. Being active, breathing in fresh air, getting some daylight, and talking to people are all good for mental health. That's what I want to encourage.

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Long Eaton

My name is Mike, I'm 27 and I'm the walk leader for MWAT Long Eaton. I was originally a part of the Quinton MWAT group, however after moving to Long Eaton, quickly realised how important that group was to me. I grew up, like a lot of men, being told that "men don't cry" and "men shouldn't show emotion, they're strong", but when my dad passed away in 2021, things took a dark turn and I didn't know what to do. I bottled everything up. Suddenly I found myself somewhere I had never been before, a deep depression, and it wasn't until my wife had told me there was a "walking and talking" group specifically for men that I'd realised just how bad things had gotten. I want to create a safe space, for men, where we can all be heard, and understand that we are not alone.

Hi, my name is Adam I am 53 years old and a father to a grown up Daughter, Son and a Grandson also. I have been clean and sober for 10 years. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2024 and currently under active surveillance. I don’t believe men have an opportunity to share, maybe don’t know how. I am creating this group to give guys that opportunity. To talk through men’s issues with mental health, physical health or just enjoy a walk with likeminded men. I believe my own experiences will enable me to successfully facilitate the group.

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Chelmsford

Hi, my name is Scott and I am the walk leader for Chelmsford. Following my own struggles with mental health and finding solace in nature, hiking and talking with friends, I decided I wanted to get involved with helping more men find their peace and support through getting outside and being part of a community that is open, friendly and most importantly confidential.

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Bournemouth

Hi. My name is Tom and I’m the Bournemouth walk leader. I’ve lived in various places in the south of England, but the coast, heaths and forests of Dorset is where I really feel rooted. I work in Nature Conservation and the outdoors is incredibly important to me for a whole variety of reasons. I managed to return 'home' 5 years ago following a 12 or so years in London after starting and raising a young family with my wife Freya. I’ve suffered from poor mental health for a couple of years, since what I would describe as 'a bit of a breakdown' in 2022. Since then, the more I learn to understand my own issues, the more I realise that many men are in a similar position, often suffering in silence not having the confidence to reach out and simply talk to someone. There still isn't much help or support out there for men, despite an improving picture - MWAT can help. I came across Men Walk ing and Talking on social media and was immediately struck by how many of my boxes it ticked, such as good idea and so simple. After some research and discussions with MWAT I decided to start a Bournemouth Group and look forward very much to meeting you and talking as we walk .

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Droitwich Spa

Hi. My name is Danny and I am the walk leader for the Droitwich group of MWAT. I first came across MWAT on social media while I was looking for some local support and have followed them for some time. Having struggled for many years I understand all too well how isolated and alone it can feel. In more recent years I’ve come to realise the importance of talking and learnt that a lot more men are effected than I realised. I decided to make the step to set up a Droitwich MWAT group to give other men like myself an opportunity to talk with like minded people and create a local support network so nobody feels lonely and isolated. Meeting for just one hour every week could make all the difference. Let’s normalise talking about these things and make sure everyone knows that it’s ok to not be ok!! Look forward to seeing you soon!

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Malvern

Hello, our names are Jake I’m 28 years old and Nath is 30 years old we have lived in the Malvern area all our lives. We have both struggled personally in the past with our own mental health. The one thing we found a struggle within the area, is the lack of support for men’s mental health. This is why we have decided to start a group in Malvern to try and support the men in the area. We want to support others by simply meeting up for a walk and have a good old chat as we walk in our beautiful town. No fees, no booking required, just come along. EVERY MAN IS WELCOME no matter what age, background or fitness ability. Please join us for some no pressure walking and talking. The Chase High School Geraldine Rd Malvern

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Oswestry

BIO UPDATE 2025 I joined the Oswestry Men Walking and Talking group back in 2021 not long after it started. My wife shared the group to me via messenger and said I should take a look. At the time but not known by myself, my Dad's 20 year battle with Parkinson's was slowly coming to an end. I had struggled for many years with his diagnosis but Parkinson's just became part of our families normal lives not realising how it was really affecting me. On joining the group, I realised that I wasn't the only son/man feeling the way I did and discovered that one of the walking group members had been through a similar experience a few years prior. Being able to talk about how I was feeling was such a release and it allowed me to start to process the years of hurt and pain i had been feeling. Dad passed away in 2022 but I kept walking every week as our group had become part of my weekly routine and I looked forward to seeing the guys. About twelve months ago the opportunity arose for me to take the position of group leader, I didn't have to think to long about it as I thought how much the group had supported me through the last year of Dad's life and the grieving process afterwards. I wanted the group to continue to reach out and support other men by being there for them and that there were probably other men struggling with similar feelings as myself without anyone to talk to, I have amazing family and friends which I'm so thankful for but as life is busy for all of us, trying to find time with them is a challenge at the best of times. The Men Walking and Talking group allows me to have that one hour a week to myself in which I am surrounded by a group of like minded men. The group have been involved in numerous community events supporting local charities and we continue to look for ways we can help locally as a group as it is really rewarding to do and gives a sense of purpose, Our little group consistently shows up week after week for each other and for potential new walkers, sometimes there's 4 of us other weeks there's double figures but numbers don't matter its all about being there for each other. I hope the group will continue to grow from strength to strength as I feel it's so important for men to be able to talk openly and honestly about their feelings and have a safe space to do so without any judgement. Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Chippenham

My name is Keith, I'm 53 and Chippenham born and bred. There is nothing like MWAT in my area at the moment and I think it would be beneficial for the local community as mens mental health and wellbeing is seldom spoken about, although things are improving. I love walking too, it's the most underrated exercise out there with so many benefits and combining the 'walking and talking' together is a win/win combination for both physical and mental health. We can also put the world to rights at the same time! I look forward to getting out of my comfort zone, getting out there and putting one foot in front of the other!'

Men Walking and Talking

In-person · Greater London

My Croydon‑born wife lured me to South London with the promise of her mum’s excellent cooking. But what actually won me over were Croydon’s green spaces and its surprisingly beautiful edges that spill into the Surrey Hills. Becoming a father has been an incredible new chapter for our family, but it also tested my mental resilience in ways I didn’t expect. For the first time in my life, I found myself struggling with anxiety. With my wife’s support, I carved out one quiet ritual: a weekly walk in nature. Those walks brought me a sense of peace and helped me build a deeper relationship with the land around me. Talking to friends also helped, and saying the worries out loud made them feel just a little lighter. I hope our walks can offer the same sense of relief and connection to men from all walks of life, helping us breathe a little deeper, feel a little stronger, and carry our loads with a little more ease.
