Princes Risborough Walk

In-person · Horsenden

Hi, my name is Chris. Many men struggle to talk about their mental health, myself included. Traditional support routes can feel intimidating or inaccessible. A simple walk creates a relaxed environment where conversation happens more naturally, side by side rather than face to face. This group is here to help tackle isolation, build a sense of community, and encourage honest conversations while also promoting physical wellbeing. By bringing men together regularly, we can create supportive connections, reduce stigma around mental health, and provide an early outlet before issues become more serious. Ultimately, it’s about creating a space where no one feels they have to deal with things alone.

Quinton Walk

In-person · Quinton

Hi. My name is Stephen and I am the walk leader for Quinton. The men walking and talking idea was introduced to me by my father-in-law who attends another group. I thought this would be something good to be involved with. Generally, men don’t talk to each other about their feelings or emotions. However, once I had joined the a group in Quinton and spoke to other men my age and younger, I found that we all need to talk about what's on your mind and just unwind. We all have stresses and different things going on in our lives. It doesn’t matter how small, once spoken about it does help. Just even chatting about football, sport, whatever. After the group had disbanded, I started to think I should do something to get this group back up and running again. I'm sure that other members feel the same way also. This is why I’ve made it my mission to restart the group and hopefully reach out to more people with this message: you are not alone, and it’s okay to feel this way. We can meet up, have a chat, and have a pleasant walk at the same time.

Reading Walk

In-person · Reading

Hi, I’m Kenny, the walk leader for this group. I first discovered MWAT through Phil’s Facebook posts when he started the Reading group in early 2024. About a year later, when he moved house to a county far away, I was glad to take over and keep the walk going. I’m passionate about neurodiversity and mental health. I have my own lived experiences and have done a fair bit of research, and I believe this group is a brilliant way to bring men together to support one another. We offer a safe, confidential space to talk openly, without judgement. Reading MWAT — Core values • A problem shared is a problem halved • What’s said in the group stays in the group • Nothing is off the table • No alcohol or drugs • Respect each other The group is a safe space for men to talk and share what’s going on for them. • Come and talk about everything • Come and talk about nothing • Come to make friends • Come for exercise • Come to get your steps in • Come and grab a curry with the boys (every couple of months) Looking forward to walking and talking with you.

Ripon Walk

In-person · Ripon

Hi, I’m Alan. I think men struggle to talk about their mental health; I know I do. I rarely talk about my anxiety with anyone, even those close to me, and when I do, they don’t understand if they are not going through it themselves. I'm not ready to talk about all my own stuff yet, but I hope to get to a place where I can and maybe help you to do the same. Walking and talking will help us get there. I want to do this. I’m going for it and don’t want to do it on my own, so take a big step and turn up! This walk will be a safe space to open up, chat, or just walk and have space - if you decide to talk you’ll be talking to others who get it - talk, listen, make a new friend, or just come for the company and escape for an hour … what have you got to lose? Same time, same place, every week. Just a steady-paced walk for around 1 hour, no pressure or judgement, walk shoulder to shoulder with men just like you. See you there!

Rochdale Walk

In-person · Rochdale

NEW WALK STARTING THURSDAY 16th JULY 2026 I’m Dan, 51, a husband and proud dad to two grown‑up humans (and one not‑so‑grown‑up, four‑legged companion!). I’m someone who enjoys being active, especially running and walking—ideally out in the hills, where fresh air and open space seem to bring a sense of perspective. I’m leading this walking group because I believe in the simple but powerful benefit of walking and talking together. Life isn’t always straightforward – I lost my dad to suicide and have faced my own difficult periods too. Those experiences have shown me just how important connection, openness, and shared understanding can be. This group isn’t about pressure or expectations. It’s about creating a relaxed, supportive space where men can come together, be themselves, and feel part of something. You can chat if you want to, share what’s on your mind, or simply enjoy the walk alongside others without saying much at all. Sometimes the most valuable thing is just being there – side by side, getting outside, and knowing you’re not alone. Whether you come for the conversation, the company, or just the walk, you’re very welcome.

Sandbach Walk

In-person · Sandbach

My name is Dave, and I’m the walk leader for Sandbach, Cheshire. We started our walks in October 2023, and what began as a simple step forward became something far more powerful than I ever imagined. At the time, I needed support just as much as anyone else. Life had tested me, showing me how dark and isolated it can feel. But through walking and talking alongside other men, I found something different — I found light. I found understanding. I found strength in shared experience. I’ve watched the men who joined those early walks grow in confidence, stepping forward to lead walks themselves and support others — including me during my own difficult moments. That’s the power of men showing up for each other. It reminded me that even in isolation, we are never truly alone. Walking taught me to stop giving my energy to the negatives I cannot control, and instead focus on moving forward — even on the darkest days. Progress doesn’t require giant leaps. It starts with one step. One decision. One conversation. If you’re struggling, know this: there is strength in walking beside others who understand. There is hope in putting one foot in front of the other. It all starts with one step. Take it with us.

Scarborough Walk

In-person · Scarborough

My name is Ashley and I am the Walk Leader for Scarborough. After seeing a Men Walking And Talking group featured on the BBC, it was clear there was a real need to create something similar here in Scarborough. Through our family businesses at Stepney Hill Farm, we have supported many local groups and charities over the years. Our community gardens and the Stepney Hill Eco Project — delivered in conjunction with local veterans — have brought lasting benefits to a wide range of organisations. These include local junior schools and Woodland Academy, who regularly access the gardens and farm for educational visits throughout the year, learning about food, farming, and the environment. More recently, we have expanded this support by working with Gladstone Road Junior School and Woodland Academy to provide residential stays alongside farm tours and “field to fork” learning experiences. The Men Walking And Talking group is a natural and important extension of this community work. Creating a safe, welcoming space for men to walk, talk, and connect — especially in the evenings — plays a vital role in supporting mental health and wellbeing. This isn’t just a walk. It’s a weekly space to look forward to, to meet new people, build friendships, support one another, and remind ourselves that we don’t have to carry everything alone.
