Kidderminster Walk

In-person · Kidderminster

Hi, my name is Phil, and I am the leader of the Kidderminster Walk. I first found out about MWAT when my nearest group at the time (Stourport) had been advertised in a local newspaper. At the time I had been struggling to handle the pressures of multiple roles in my work life, which lead to sleepless nights. Thankful, my wife encouraged me to go to the Stourport walk. All of my way there I thought that I was a bit of an imposter and didn't really need to go, or to get any help. When I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by Dean and the Stourport members. By the end of my first walk my opinion had completely changed. I don't think I opened up much that first evening, but I was made to feel comfortable, and like I was amongst friends that I had known for years. Over the subsequent weeks, I began to open up about my situation, and came to the realisation that I was struggling with long-term work-related stress, and stress induced anxiety. That simple realisation, and being able to open up about my problems seemed to ease the burden, and make me feel better in myself, and I understood exactly what these groups could do for people. At one stage Dean mentioned the possibility of starting a second group in the local area, and i knew that it would be a great way for me to help others in the same way that MWAT had helped me. So, in February 2022 we held the first walk in Kidderminster, and i have loved every walk since. I'm fortunate that I have since been able to have an open and honest conversation with my employers, I have managed to pass some of my roles and responsibilities to other people and alleviate some of the pressures.

Leicester Walk

In-person · Leicester

Hi, I'm Prab, the Leicester Walk Leader. I am an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor), and now working in my seventeenth year. In these years I have gained experience in teaching and coaching students to learn to drive. It has been my privilege to take so many students from start to finish in their journey to learn to drive over the years. This has helped me develop a knowledge about helping people, especially those with special needs. And I have many years’ experiences also with teaching students with cognitive and physical disabilities. I also have experience of being in a bad place mentally, when the world can feel so hard to deal with, and I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to carry it alone. Sharing my journey to help you navigate yours. Let’s talk, heal, and grow together. Your story isn't over yet.

Lincoln Walk

In-person · Lincoln

Hi, my name is Jamie, and I'm the walk leader for Lincoln. Where mental health is concerned, It's often difficult for men to be honest about needing help or even knowing how to go about getting it. Often, simply being able to open up to someone about your struggles can be incredibly helpful. Sometimes, merely verbalising the issue to a sympathetic ear can provide perspective and reassurance. We can find it difficult to do this as men, because we have learned that suffering in silence is a key part of masculinity. This is nonsense, and only serves to harm us. If you feel that you could benefit from taking part in a gathering of like-minded lads that shares their experiences and supports each other, then come on down! We'll talk, we'll walk (not up steep hill!), and have a jolly old time.

Liverpool Waterfront Walk

In-person · Liverpool

My name’s Daniel, and becoming a Walk Leader for this group means a lot to me personally. Over the years I’ve faced my own battles with mental health, grief, and rebuilding my life after coming out of abusive and toxic relationships. Those experiences left me dealing with C-PTSD, and there were times where I felt completely lost trying to find myself again and move forward. A huge part of my journey has also been grief. Losing my grandparents quite close together hit me hard, especially because they were so much more than grandparents to me — they were my best friends, my support system, and a massive part of who I am. Around the same time, the breakdown of my relationship with my daughter’s mum completely changed my life, too. Becoming a part-time dad after always imagining a different future is something I still struggle with, and at times it can feel like I’m grieving a life and dream that keeps getting further away. But through all of that, I’ve learned how important it is for men to speak, connect, and know they’re not alone. I’m not ashamed of my story, because the reality is many men silently carry trauma, heartbreak, grief, and pressure every single day. That’s why I wanted to become involved with this walking group — to help create a safe, judgement-free space where men can talk openly, support each other, and simply walk alongside people who understand. Sometimes a conversation, a bit of honesty and knowing someone genuinely gets it can make all the difference.

Long Eaton Walk

In-person · Long Eaton

My name is Mike, I'm 27 and I'm the walk leader for MWAT Long Eaton. I was originally a part of the Quinton MWAT group, however after moving to Long Eaton, quickly realised how important that group was to me. I grew up, like a lot of men, being told that "men don't cry" and "men shouldn't show emotion, they're strong", but when my dad passed away in 2021, things took a dark turn and I didn't know what to do. I bottled everything up. Suddenly I found myself somewhere I had never been before, a deep depression, and it wasn't until my wife had told me there was a "walking and talking" group specifically for men that I'd realised just how bad things had gotten. I want to create a safe space, for men, where we can all be heard, and understand that we are not alone.

Malvern Group

In-person · Malvern

Hello, our names are Jake I’m 28 years old and Nath is 30 years old we have lived in the Malvern area all our lives. We have both struggled personally in the past with our own mental health. The one thing we found a struggle within the area, is the lack of support for men’s mental health. This is why we have decided to start a group in Malvern to try and support the men in the area. We want to support others by simply meeting up for a walk and have a good old chat as we walk in our beautiful town. No fees, no booking required, just come along. EVERY MAN IS WELCOME no matter what age, background or fitness ability. Please join us for some no pressure walking and talking. The Chase High School Geraldine Rd Malvern
