Whitby PANDAS

Group will pause for the summber holidays, last session will be 26th July, returning in September Last Sunday of each month, 9:30am-10:30am Group Facilitators: Claire & Hannah Entrance Our Space Hannah & Claire What inspired you to start your group? – We were inspired to start the group after both experiencing PND and anxiety after we had our babies. After meeting some other new parents, we both felt the relief of knowing that what we were going through was normal and we were not alone. However, neither of us was aware of PANDAS, and we wanted to help bring exposure to the charity whilst also offering a space for other parents to meet and create friendships or have an opportunity to unload some of the hardships they have experienced.  What does the building look like? How will I know I am in the right place? – The Green Lane Centre is a brilliant community space in Whitby, which has free parking. There is also a children’s play park next door, open to anyone. It has a main automatic entrance; however, on a weekend when we run our group, it is closed. There is a separate rear entrance with a large entrance way, which is perfect for leaving any push chairs or buggies. It is all on one level, which is great for accessibility, and it has several toilets, one with a designated accessible changing room for anyone who needs to use it What’s the atmosphere like when I walk in? What should I do when they walk in? When people come to the group, we have a table and chairs for anyone wanting to come and sit to chat, and we also have a baby sensory space and some toys for anyone coming with their baby or child. This allows both parent/carer and child to break the ice and speak if they would like to. We are aiming to keep it quite informal so new parents have a chance to connect without pressure. If needed, we can use the foyer to speak with anyone who wants to have a chat or be supported privately.
